What is a Galilean Wedding?
It’s the middle of the night. You are startled awake by shouting and the blast of ram’s horn trumpet. The clamor grows as you lean out the window to see an onrushing parade of noisy revelers with burning torches, blowing musical horns. A man crowned with laurel leaves leads the procession—carried above the revelers on a queenly litter rides a veiled woman, splendidly adorned. The bridegroom has come for his bride and the village rejoices. There’s going to be a wedding…!
 
The Bible tells of a day whose sheer joy, majesty and love will outshine all other days. It’s a day where no expression of Scripture proclaims more magnificently the affection of Jesus for His Bride, the Church—and His great longing for her. Jesus spoke of this day using imagery that His disciples understood—the customs of a simple Galilean wedding.
