PASTOR VIC CORDOVA ministers at Calvary Chapel to our Youth and College & Career Groups, our coffee house outreach, home fellowships, and our worship team.
Vic came to know Christ in his mother’s Sunday school class at the age of four. As a young teen he served in his home church assisting with Vacation Bible School, the local summer camp, and with the worship teams of several churches in the Placerville area. At age 17, Vic attended Pensacola Christian College in Florida pursuing a degree in Youth Ministries, where he graduated in 1998 with a degree in Practical Theology.
“It was at college (through the call of God and the fellowship of a few godly friends) that I realized there is so much more to knowing God than I had experienced so far. I gave my life to Him more fully and asked Him to do whatever He wanted with my life…and He has. I saw God take my Christian experience to a new level. My Prayer life became my favorite time of day. I began to sense the prodding of the Holy Spirit more clearly. God’s word began to open up to me, and the sharing of my faith in God became more frequent and surprisingly fruitful!”
Between semesters at college, Vic continued to serve in youth ministries with American Missionary Fellowship missionary Ed Kennedy serving local Georgetown Divide youth groups. Eventually he became a youth director at Mother Lode Church while ministering at Forward Bible Camp, creating and running summer programs. More recently Vic spent two years working as a Child Care Counselor with troubled teens at Koinonia Group Homes, a facility for drug and alcohol rehabilitation.
“That experience really opened my eyes to pain in the world, and taught me to rely on God for my strength for ministry. Koinonia taught me many valuable skills for ministry and reminded me that true, extreme life change only happens through submission and dependence on God.”
Vic's interests reflect his love of the outdoors, including street and mountain biking, snowboarding, hiking, camping, spelunking, running, exploring, and air soft wars - any good thing for the sake of fellowship. He is a gifted musician, and is currently working on a recording project. |
