Our Church Services

From the Bible and from the earliest descriptions of ancient history, a typical Sunday church service included worship in music, prayer, communion, and the reading and teaching of the Scriptures. Here at Calvary Chapel we seek to maintain a similarly uncomplicated model in our regular church services. We emphasize the worship of God in song because it is inspirational, and puts our praise to music. We emphasize the teaching of the Bible because it is God's Word and His voice to us. Concerning our teaching of the Bible, we strongly emphasize content and substance over style, as style neither saves souls or transform lives. We emphasize prayer, because it is the essence of our created purpose: intimate fellowship with God. We also emphasize the ordinances of communion, of which we partake together on the first Sunday morning of each month; and baptism, which we perform for all new (or old!) believers at the American River. Above all, we emphasize the Lord Jesus Christ as the center of all we are and all we do, as He is the Living Word, the visible image of the invisible God, and everything that the Father wanted to say.
